Are you a youth who loves Mother Earth? If you are and are interested in attending a fun and educational youth summit on the environment then the Quinte Field Naturalists (QFN) would like to hear from you.
The Field Naturalists would like to send a local youth to Ontario Nature’s “Youth Summit for Mother Earth” , a cross-cultural event being held in late September. The QFN will pay for the successful candidate’s participation fee, which will cover the full cost of a young person’s participation in the summit including workshops, meals, accommodation and event coordination.
The summit will offer participants opportunities for young indigenous and non-indigenous leaders to connect, participate in educational workshops, and take part in a weekend of outdoor fun and learning.
The 2025 Youth Summit for Mother Earth will be held in-person at Tawingo Outdoor Centre in Huntsville from September 12 – 14, 2025. We will be working with advisors from Bkejwanong (Walpole Island First Nation) and Wahta Mohawks First Nations to ensure Indigenous worldviews are respectfully incorporated in the planning and delivery of the summit.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for a local youth to participate in a provincial event with cross- cultural representation from youth across Ontario,” John Lowry – Environmental Convenor for QFN, said, adding that a present member of the QFN executive had participated when younger and highly recommended the experience.
Candidates must be 14 – 20 years of age and should exhibit a strong interest in environmental issues.
Applications can be submitted to John Lowry and Lori Borthwick, Environmental Convenors for the QFN at the following email address – johnslowry61@gmail.com. The deadline for applications is August 5th.
